A Novel Radiality Maintenance Algorithm for the Metaheuristic Based Co-Optimization of Network Reconfiguration With Battery Storage

Network reconfiguration (NR) is a well-accepted technique to decrease power losses and enhance the voltage profile of distribution network. The practical challenges in solving NP-hard NR problem using metaheuristics are randomly generate and, each iteration, check repair non-radial network configurations without compromising on solution space least amount time. Inefficient handling results large computational time high standard deviation. This paper mitigates aforementioned by proposing novel radiality maintenance algorithm (RMA) that involves concept junction nodes selection set produce only radial configurations. proposed approach can potentially improve deviation efficiency problem. RMA generic, model-independent, scalable, as it be seamlessly integrated into any metaheuristic solve involving feeders different sizes. RMA, combined with accelerated particle swarm optimization, implemented solve: 1) snapshot problem; 2) multiperiod co-optimization simultaneously computes optimal configuration control setpoints photovoltaic system battery energy storage system. Simulation suggest 27.3% reduction achieving best reported literature NR-based loss within comparable timeframe 1.6 seconds. effectiveness reliability demonstrated IEEE 33-bus test
